PROGRAMME 1 - Selections from Bernstein, Gabriel, Cervantes, Mozart, Rossini along with Celtic Tunes and Improvisations
PROGRAMME 2 - Women Composers Throughout History: Selections include music from Amy Beach, Florence Price, and Louise Ferranc.
From New York City, the Frisson ensemble features the best and brightest of classical music’s rising stars drawn from many of the nation’s major music schools including Juilliard, Curtis, and Yale. Frisson showcases a myriad of rarely-performed masterworks and will perform two different shows for the Festival – the first will include a wide variety of music from Leonard Bernstein’s Candide Overture to the Gabriel’s Oboe theme from the movie The Mission as well as some Cuban dances by Cervantes and their own special rendition of traditional Celtic tunes and improvisations, as well as music by traditional composers Mozart and Rossini.
The second concert is called Women Composers Throughout History and includes music by many seldom heard composers including Amy Beach, the African American composer Florence Price and the 19th century composer Louise Ferranc. The concert will include narration and slide projections of these remarkable women.
