Bagpipes with attitude, drums with a Scottish accent and a show so hot it carries its own health warning!
Bagpipes are about as Scottish as you can get. Nothing says Scotland more than a kilt-clad bagpiper playing Flower of Scotland. Now add more pipers, guitars, keyboards, percussion and vocals and you have the rock stars of bagrock, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers. “Bagrock”, you ask? The unique sound of the Pipers, it is a groundbreaking fusion of traditional Scottish music and rock anthems. Imagine classic rock songs like We Will Rock You and Smoke on the Water with bagpipes and a rock rhythm section, and you can just about imagine the fun and energy in a Pipers’ performance.
Hailing from Edinburgh, the group has grown from their first gig in front of a handful of people, to now doing over 200 concerts worldwide. Their fans include Sir Paul
McCartney, Samuel L. Jackson and Her Majesty the Queen and with performances at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the Rugby World Cup and the BBC Proms, they are in demand for their high energy and infectious style.
Now, if you have any preconceived notions about bagpipes, throw them out of the window! The Chilli Pipers are serious musicians, with impressive credentials and musical training. They flawlessly combine the variety of instruments, keeping the old traditional sounds alive, but creating something new and making it cool to play the bagpipes!
Described as a “traditional family Hogmanay party, from the future”, this will be an experience you won’t regret, so come prepared to rock!
